Wow. Today has been a whirlwind of emotion. Josh and I truly appreciate all the prayers from everyone and all the encouraging scripture that you have left us to read. We got 311 emails today, tons of text and lots of tweets. I thought it was best to update everyone on here what is going on with our daughter Chloé.
Wednesday is when Chloé started acting a little weird but I just thought she was possibly going through a growth spurt. She was abnormally fussy. Thursday night she began to eat less at each feeding then after Church she started screaming uncontrollably like she was in horrible pain. Josh and I went home to take her temperature. It was 100.9 so we called our Doctor and the local emergency room on what we should do. They instructed is to give her Tylenol wait an hour then if it her fever was still there to go straight to the emergency room. An hour came and went and when I took her temperature a second time it read 102.1.
We immediately took her to the emergency room. The next few hours were the worst moments of my life. I think I was crying just as hard as Chloé. Seeing your precious baby being pricked with needles and strapped up to monitors is scary. After repeated times of trying the nurses where unsuccessful in getting an IV started in her little veins. When the doctor came in he looked her over, found her ear was a little red but said he knew there was something more because babies just don’t act like she was acting over a sore ear. He instructed us to do a Spinal Tap to test Chloé for Spinel Meningitis. Our hearts broke. We didn’t want to do it because we couldn’t even imagine her having something like that. He told us we couldn’t wait. We had to do it or her life could be at risk. We decided to do it and an hour later the Doctor came in and confirmed they found bacterial Meningitis.
They were not happy about their findings and wanted to get her to the Pensacola PICU asap because of her age. So they rushed her there. Josh went with Chloé and I had to drive. The longest hour and a half of my life not sure what it all meant and what the outcome would be.
When I got to the hospital. Josh and Chloé were already admitted. They had to put an IV in her head. She was still very fussy after all she had already been through. The Doctors came in and confirmed they found Bacterial Meningitis on her slides. Once she got in to PICU the gave her antibiotics to fight the Meningitis. Chloé was put in to Isolation. We had so wear mask, gloves, and gowns to be able to see her.
After all this happened, we prayed, had you all pray, and constantly read scripture over her believing for a miracle to save our baby girl. A few long hours of being in Isolation the doctors came in and said that they checked the slides again that had once shown the bacterial infection and there was no bacterial infection to be found. They were not sure what happened. This was so exciting to hear. What the did find in her culture was the viral strain of Spinal Meningitis but that is a much better diagnosis than having bacterial. The doctors were more pleased with that finding. When we first checked in they said 14 days in the hospital at least, but now they are telling us as soon as her fever is gone for 24 hours we can go home and recover there.
We are believing she will recover wholly from this and are so thankful for all your prayers. We love you!

God does answer prayers!! From the moment I heard early this morning…you, josh and that precious baby have been in my constant thoughts and prayers! Know that you all are dearly loved and are being lifted up in prayer!
What wonderful news to hear. I just heard about Chloe this morning from Robyn of Mix Mingle Glow on twitter – my prayers were immediately being sent to you. I have a 3 year old girl and whenever I hear anything about another child in need of prayer, I immediately send my prayers and best wishes to the family. My prayers are still being sent to Chloe and your family for a speedy recovery.
Amanda and Josh,
I’ve been praying for you all day today and checking your updates for clues on how you all are doing. I’m so relieved to hear your in the homestretch to recovery. Isa.8:18. Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and wonders. This girl has a greater purpose.
God Bless you all three. God is truly greater than any bacteria, virus or diagnosis. Love, and prayers to you all.

Oh, Amanda! I’m so glad to hear the good news! I have prayed and thought about you guys all day! I can’t imagine the feelings of fear you all have been through in the last 24hrs! Your faith has been tremendous from the very beginning and you are a shining example for all of us! Praying and trusting the Lord will heal His beautiful Chloe soon! God Bless!
Amanda, I can absolutely feel the pain you went through with sweet Chloe. Nurses couldn’t get an iv in Lily either and she also had to do a spinal tap. Your testimony is so awesome – the enemy will try to tell you the doctors were just wrong in the beginning, but we ALL know that our God touched her and healed her! Love you guys! Stay strong!
So glad to hear that it’s not as serious as they thought! Prayers answered. <3 More prayers going up for a speedy recovery!
Thanks so much for the update. God is so good!
The PICU in Pensacola is awesome, she is in great hands! Our daughter was careflighted there @ 2months of age. They thought she may have had a seizure, but after x-rays, catscans and a spinal tap (that is the worst feeling, knowing you can’t be in the room with them)…they found it was just a horrible case of acid reflux. After 3 days we got to go home. And now we have a overly happy, healthy 13.5month old precious little girl! I pray everything goes well and she comes home just as happy and healthy as our baby girl!
I don’t think I have been able to keep a thought in my head today thinking about you all. I am just THRILLED to hear that all the prayers have been answered for this precious baby. Thanks be to God!
